Exploring the world with my artist husband, Bruce, allows me to indulge my passion for drawing and painting
and to give inspiration to new work. Some travellers arrive home with hundreds of snapshots but I return with
sketchbooks full of colours, thoughts and ideas that breathe life into my canvasses. I am a diligent observer
and my recent journey through Portugal, Spain, France and Italy has resulted in paintings of real places visited
imbued with a sense of mystery that has created a colourful visual treat.
Travelling as a tourist in a foreign country is often akin to being a 'voyeur'. The interface of the tourist and the
locals is often brief and their lifestyle is glimpsed through windows and open doorways. My paintings, with their
use of atmospheric light and colour, lead the viewer through entrances and exits, archways and doors, up stairs
and through alleyways so reminiscent of many European villages. I invite you to partake in your own journey
and make your own discoveries.
